L.A. For The Weekend

This past weekend I took a spur of the moment trip to Los Angeles to meet up with my friend, Alexa. Last Sunday, July 9, she texted me at about 11:00 pm asking me if I wanted to fly out to LA and then drive home with her the following Sunday…I immediately bought a one-way plane ticket from SLC to LAX. I did this without even getting work off first, but luckily I found somebody to cover my shifts. Anyways, I boarded a plane at 10:00 pm on the 12th and landed in LA at 10:45pm. Alexa picked me up and we went to her aunts house and just went to bed.

We woke up the next morning and went to Rose Cafe-Restaurant in the Venice Beach area. First off, look at how cute the wall is when walking into the restaurant.

We couldn’t resist not getting a picture!

The inside was super cute and I want it as my backyard. The food was pretty good, but it was a little expensive. A breakfast sandwich was $10.00 and I think that is normal, but add avocado and you’re looking at another $4.00. It was good and I really would go back the next time I am back in LA. That afternoon, we went to Manhattan Beach, got a little sunburnt, and hung out.

Every night I was there, we went shopping or just hung out around 3rd Street Promenade. We were walking back to our car and saw Robert Graham, who was on the Bachelorette awhile ago. If you know who I am talking about, you know how attractive he is and he was at restaurant called The Misfit. It looked really popular, so that is a place you should probably check out if you are in the area.

The next day, we just went to Manhattan Beach from like 12:00-6:00. It’s so relaxing to just sit at the beach all day and not having anything to worry about. That night, we went to Blue Plate Taco in Santa Monica for dinner. I’m a sucker for Mexican food and could eat it every day if I wouldn’t gain weight. I loved it and have some recommendations for anybody going there! GET THE CHICKEN TACOS. I don’t know what it was about them, but they were so good. You get three tacos, rice, and beans for $16.00, which is reasonable in my opinion. If you drink, get the Westside. It was vodka, cucumber, mint, agave, and something else that I can’t remember. Before dinner, we went to the Venice Canals and I want to live there ASAP. Just the feel of it is so cute and quaint.

On Saturday, the 15, we went on a walk around the Palos Verdes Peninsula. It’s a nice little walk with amazing views. I love being by the coast and this will give you some pretty spectacular views. If you have proper hiking shoes on that I have a lot of grip, you can climb down a part of the cliff and go swimming in the tide pools. It’s easy if you have the right shoes on, but unfortunately for Alexa and I, we were wearing sandals.

Made Alexa be a model for me while I played around with my camera.

The tide pools…Look at the water!

Later that day, we went to the beach again and then just like my trip was, we bought tickets to see Tim McGraw and Faith Hill at the Staples Center spur of the moment. I love going to concerts and country music, so I was in love with the idea of going. We went with Alexa’s aunt and uncle and it was a blast. I want a marriage like Tim and Faith have. They both played a lot of their popular songs from years ago, but also sang some newer ones and they sounded amazing!

If you ever have the opportunity to take a spontaneous trip, I 100% suggest doing it and always buy tickets to concerts you want to go to!

As Always,
